Carbon steels are steels with low, medium, and high carbon content, with a chemical composition defined in broad ranges. Low-carbon steels have a maximum of 0.30% carbon, and medium-carbon steels have 0.30% to 0.60%. High-carbon steels have between 0.60% and 1.00% carbon.
